On Tuesday, May 1, 2007, National Grid proposed major structuring for Town coverage and platform locations. The membership of Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA) Local 317 based in Beverly and representing members in a number of North Shore communities, has joined with the Braintree-based UWUA Local 369 and others in authorizing a strike vote against National Grid if a contract is not reached by May 11 when their present contract expires.

On April 10, 2007, UWUA/ BUW Locals 329 and 330 voted unanimously to approve a Strike Authorization Vote in the event an agreement is not reached between the UWUA/ BUW and National Grid. The Contract between the parties expires on May 11, 2007.

National Grid UWUA/ BUW Local 369 and Local 310 Members vote and overwhelmingly approve a Strike Authorization.
