Gary P. SullivanPresident
Gary began working at Boston Edison's Meter Records Division in July of 1980. In 1981 Gary transferred to the Underground Mass Ave Division as a Cable Installer. Gary remained in the Underground until he was elected Secretary-Treasurer in March of 1996. While in the Underground, Gary also held the rate of Splicer's Helper, Splicer A&B, Troubleshooter, and Construction Inspector Cable A. Gary served as Steward, Chief Steward, and Safety Representative while in the Underground.
In 2002 Gary was elected President of Local 369 in 2002 and re-elected in 2005. In 2006, Gary was elected as the President of the Brotherhood of the Utility Workers. He is also a member of the UWUA National Executive Board. He serves as a Vice President of the Massachusetts AFL-CIO.
Gary was born in Boston in June 1960 and grew up in Hyde Park with his 4 brothers and sisters where he also met hit wife Valerie. He graduated from Catholic Memorial High School in 1978 and in 1995 from UMASS Boston where he double majored in Law and Labor Studies. Gary was awarded the Robert J. Watt Fellowship Award to attend the prestigious Harvard University Trade Union Program where he studied Economics and Union Strategies and Tactics and graduated in 1999. Before being elected to a fulltime position at Local 369 Gary was very active in his community. He served in Hanover Youth Athletic Association as a coach and director in both baseball and basketball as well as Hanover Youth Hockey as a coach and a director. Gary's 3 children are all grown now which has allowed him the time to serve the Local.
